Electric Bills Too High? Find Out How Much Home Appliances are Costing

Kill-a-Watt MeterKill-a-Watt meters, now available for checkout for up to one week at the Library, plug into any wall outlet. When an electrical appliance is plugged into the meter, it tracks the amount of energy the appliance is using. The user can program their local utility rate into the meter and display projected costs in dollars and cents by hour, day, week, month or year. By using a Kill-a-Watt meter, one can find which appliances contribute most to an electric bill and decide to replace them with newer energy efficient appliances. This program is made possible through collaboration with Silicon Valley Energy Watch, a partnership between the City of San Jose and PG&E. For more information on saving energy, please visit www.svenergywatch.org or www.pge.com/myhome.
