SUBJECT: Award of Bid #F9901-48 for Fleet Vehicles (RTC #99-085)
REPORT IN BRIEF
Approval is requested for the award of a contract to S & C Ford of San Francisco for one compact pickup truck, one full size cargo van and ten full-size pickup trucks for the Public Works Department Fleet Maintenance Division.
BACKGROUND
The new vehicles will replace twelve existing vehicles which are experiencing significant downtime and high maintenance costs and which are on the FY 1999/2000 replacement schedule. All vehicles are used regularly to transport personnel and material on City streets and highways.
DISCUSSION
Bid specifications were prepared by Public Works and Purchasing staff; and Invitation for Bids #F9901-48 was distributed to twenty dealers, ten of which are Sunnyvale firms.

Bid pricing includes sales tax, delivery to the Sunnyvale Corporation Yard and a 60,000/72-month warranty.
Staff recommends award of contract to the low bidder.
FISCAL IMPACT
Total cost to the City will be $236,926 (including tax). Funds are available in Public Works Fleet Maintenance Account #020700-5135.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that Council award a contract in the amount of $236,926 to S & C Ford of San Francisco for twelve vehicles- and authorize the Purchasing Officer to issue a purchase order to that effect.
