SUBJECT: Acceptance of Improvements Baylands Bridge at Santa Clara Valley Water District East Channel, PR-97-14 RTC#99-098
RECOMMENDATION
That the City Council, by resolution, accept the project as satisfactorily completed.
DISCUSSION
The Contractor, Jones Brothers Enterprises, Inc. has satisfactorily completed the Baylands Bridge at Santa Clara Valley Water District East Channel project, PR-97-14, within the allocated budget and for the final contract amount of $96,915.00. This work included installation of piles, abutments, fabrication and installation of a steel truss bridge, and raising of the adjacent levee embankment . Also included were installation of bollards (to prevent vehicle access across the bridge) and a decorative wind vane, that matches the style used at the nearby Baylands Park.
The work was done to improve pedestrian and bicycle access for those utilizing the shoreline levee in the area north of Caribbean Drive.
The project was inspected by the Public Works Project Administration Section and found to be satisfactory. Acceptance is, therefore, recommended.
