SUNNYVALE CITY COUNCIL
SEPTEMBER 21, 1999

The City Council of the City of Sunnyvale adjourned from a 6:00 p.m. Study Session: Review of Wolfe Road/El Camino Real Right of Way Impacts—RTC99-401, and a 6:30 p.m. Study Session: Boards and Commissions Program Review, to a regularly scheduled meeting in the City Council Chambers, 456 W. Olive Avenue, Sunnyvale, California, at 7:30 p.m., Mayor Manuel Valerio presiding.

PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENTS

Ron Swegles thanked the Council for their part in the fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.

Councilmember Miller announced a town hall meeting in City Hall Council Chambers on September 25, 3:30 to 5:00 p.m., with Congresswoman Anna Eshoo.

Mayor Valerio stated the Council had a good time at the Council/Staff Softball game.

CONSENT CALENDAR

Vorreiter moved, Fowler seconded, and the motion carried unanimously approving the staff recommendations on the Consent Calendar (Items 1D, 1E, 1F removed) as follows:

Miller moved, Vorreiter seconded, and the motion carried unanimously approving the staff recommendation.

Item 1E removed from the Consent Calendar for introduction of the ordinance.

Award of Taxicab Franchise to Santa Clara Cab Company (renewal).

The public hearing opened and closed at 7:40 p.m.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SUNNYVALE AWARDING NONEXCLUSIVE FRANCHISE TO SALBINDER SINGH GADRI, DOING BUSINESS AS SANTA CLARA CAB COMPANY

Miller moved, Fowler seconded, and the motion carried by the following vote introducing the ordinance.

Ayes: Miller, Fowler, Walker, Roberts, Vorreiter, Valerio, Kawczynski

Noes: None

PUBLIC HEARINGS/GENERAL BUSINESS

Adoption of Work Plan for Update to Library Sub-Element.

Staff Recommendation

Council approve the proposed work plan.

Director of Libraries Victoria Johnson presented the staff report.

The public hearing opened and closed at 7:45 p.m.

Fowler moved, Walker seconded, and the motion carried unanimously approving the staff recommendation.

Pre-Appeal of Planning Commission Agenda of September 27, 1999 and Administrative Hearing of September 29, 1999.

No action taken.

COUNCIL

NAC 1 Councilmember Kawczynski inquired about the sequencing of lights at Mathilda and Olive.

NAC 2 Councilmember Miller thanked the Chamber of Commerce and Sunnyvale Hilton for Showcase Sunnyvale; thanked Applied Materials for sponsoring the art show; invited Council colleagues to an AIDS walk-a-thon on October 17; announced the San Francisco Bay Trail 10-year anniversary and celebration of 215 miles of completed trails.
