The City Council approved a 1999 Study Issue to revise and update the City’s Bicycle Map. The Map was last updated in 1993. City staff have initiated data gathering for the map update, and have solicited bids for map revision services. Consideration of this issue is scheduled on the Council Study Calendar for December 14^th.

The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) is also conducting a countywide bicycle map revision study as part of its Countywide Bicycle Plan effort, including designating and mapping routes in Sunnyvale. The VTA’s study will be completed in a late winter/early spring time frame. At this time staff is delaying completion of the City’s bike map revision to allow for coordination with the VTA’s effort. Staff has been advised that a cost savings can be incurred by utilizing information and resources developed as part of the VTA’s mapping effort.
