SUBJECT: Award of Bid #F9910-35 for an Asphalt Patch Truck (RTC #99-499)
REPORT IN BRIEF
Approval is requested for the award of a contract to Mission Valley Ford, a division of Sterling Truck Sales, Inc., of San Jose, for one asphalt patch truck for the Department of Public Works Fleet Maintenance Division.
BACKGROUND
The requested vehicle will replace an asphalt patch truck that is on the FY 1999/2000 replacement schedule and is beginning to show signs of mechanical stress with the potential for major component failure.
DISCUSSION
Fleet Maintenance and Purchasing staff prepared bid specifications, and Invitation for Bids #F9910-35 was made available to seven vendors known to provide asphalt patch trucks.
Three bids were received:

*Bid pricing includes sales tax and delivery to the Sunnyvale Corporation Yard and a 36 month/50,000 mile warranty.
Staff recommends acceptance of the low bid.
FISCAL IMPACT
Total cost to the City will be $105,151. Funds are available in Public Works Account #20700-5135.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that Council award a contract in the amount of $105,151 to Mission Valley Ford, a division of Sterling Truck Sales, Inc., of San Jose and authorize the Purchasing Officer to issue a purchase order to that effect.
