Approval is requested for the award of a contract to Bearcat Manufacturing. Inc., of Wickenburg, Arizona, for one oil distributor truck for the Department of Public Works Fleet Maintenance Division.

The requested vehicle will replace an existing vehicle which is experiencing significant downtime and high maintenance costs and which is on the FY 1999/2000 replacement schedule. The vehicle is used regularly in the City’s street maintenance program.

Bids specifications were prepared by Public Works and Purchasing staff; and Invitation for Bids #F9910-34 was distributed to seven dealers. Only one bid was received.

Bearcat Manufacturing, Inc., of Wickenburg, Arizona, submitted a bid of $102,212 which includes delivery to the Sunnyvale Corporation Yard and sales tax. Bid pricing also reflects a trade-in allowance of $5,000 for the existing oil distributor truck.

Staff has determined that the price is reasonable and recommends acceptance of the bid.

Total cost to the City will be $102,212. Funds are available in Public Works Account #020700-5135.

It is recommended that Council award a contract in the amount of $102,212 to Bearcat Manufacturing, Inc., of Wickenburg, Arizona, and authorize the Purchasing Officer to issue a purchase order to that effect.
