SUBJECT: Award of Bid for Two Vehicles for the Department of Public Works (Bid No. F9912-47)(RTC#00-055)

REPORT IN BRIEF

Approval is requested for the award of a contract to East Bay Truck Center of Oakland for one cab/chassis with utility body and aerial device and one cab/chassis with landscape body for the Department of Public Works Fleet Maintenance Division.

BACKGROUND

The requested vehicles are additions to the City’s fleet. They will be used for additional landscape work necessitated by the Valley Transit Authority (VTA) light rail project.

DISCUSSION

Fleet Maintenance and Purchasing staff prepared specifications, and Invitations for Bids #F9912-47 was made available to fourteen vendors known to provide vehicles, three of which are Sunnyvale dealers.

Two bids were timely received.

South City Ford of South San Francisco $92,902

Bid pricing includes sales tax and delivery to the Sunnyvale Corporation Yard and a 6 yr/60,000 miles warranty for each vehicle.

Staff recommends acceptance of low bid.

FISCAL IMPACT

Total cost to the City will be $82,268. Funds are available in Public Works Fleet Maintenance Account #020700-5135.

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that Council award a contract in the amount of $82,268 to East Bay Truck Center of Oakland for one cab/chassis with utility body and aerial device and one cab chassis with landscape body.
