AMENDMENT TO THE CLASSIFICATION PLAN:
SENIOR INDUSTRIAL WASTE INSPECTOR

REPORT IN BRIEF

This report recommends amending the Classification Plan to modify the essential functions, scope of duties and minimum qualifications to the existing classification of Senior Industrial Waste Inspector.

DISCUSSION

As a result of departmental needs, the essential functions, scope of duties and minimum qualifications in the existing Senior Industrial Waste Inspector job specification has been modified to accurately reflect the duties and responsibilities for this classification in the Department of Public Works. The job specification was changed to more specifically reflect responsibilities related to storm water programs, sanitary and storm sewers; and requiring expertise in inspecting and monitoring industrial and commercial facilities.

FISCAL IMPACT

There is no fiscal impact since the classification currently exists and no changes are being made to the salary plan.

Public contact was made through posting of the Council Agenda on the City’s official notice bulletin board, posting of the agenda and report on the City’s web page, and the availability of the report in the Library and the City Clerk’s Office.

ALTERNATIVES

1. Approve the modification to the existing classification and to the City’s classification plan.
2. Modify any portion of the amendment to the City’s classification plan.
3. Disapprove the modification.

RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends Alternative 1; approve the modification to the existing classification.
