DECLARING A VACANCY ON THE HOUSING AND HUMAN SERVICES COMMISSION |

REPORT IN BRIEF |
|
Ed Loyd was appointed to fill a vacancy on the Housing and Human Services Commission at the Council meeting on July 31, 2001, for a term to expire in 2005. Mr. Loyd has had four unexcused absences and has not responded to numerous attempts to contact him. Chairman Nelson is now requesting that the Council declare the seat vacant. Mr Loyd's term was set to expire on June 30, 2005. |

BACKGROUND |
|
In a letter from the Housing and Human Services Commission, Chairman Nelson informed the Council that one of the members, Ed Loyd, has had four unexcused absences. He attended the first two meetings, but has not attended the past four meetings. Mr. Loyd has not responded to mail, e-mail, or phone messages. Per Council Policy (7.2.9), "If the member has three consecutive unexcused absences from regularly scheduled meetings, the member's seat will be declared vacant by Council." Because of these absences, the Chair is requesting that the seat be declared vacant. The City is currently recruiting for Boards and Commissions members to fill existing vacancies and the positions that will become vacant in June when the terms expire. |
