Subject: FY 2002/2003 Local Law Enforcement Block Grant (LLEBG)
Proposed Sharing Agreement with the County of Santa Clara
Dear Mr. Wittenberg:
We again concur this year with the proposed Local Law Enforcement Block Grant (LLEBG) disparate funding agreement between the County of Santa Clara and local jurisdictions for the sharing of LLEBG funds for Grant Year 2002. Specifics of this agreement are:
- The City of Sunnyvale, together with other local jurisdictions, will share with the County of Santa Clara 22.5% (or $109,963) of the $378,763 as published by the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) as of June 2002 that the BJA will allocate in the LLEBG’s for Grant Year 2002:
- The County will maintain two (2) District Attorney’s investigators and assign them to the S.A.F.E. Task Force;
- Monies in excess of staffing costs will be used for overtime as necessary:
- The County will be responsible for the 10% match associated with the amount being shared with the County; and this will be used to pay for vehicles, computers, and other equipment/supplies related to S.A.F.E.;
- The term of this agreement is Grant Year 2002; and
- Chiefs and Sheriff will be responsible for obtaining local jurisdictions’ concurrence with this agreement and will forward letters to the County Executive reflecting their jurisdicion’s acceptance.
I am pleased that these funds will be used in a manner beneficial to the County and to local jurisdictions to supplement front line law enforcement. Thank you for your work toward this end.
If I can be of further assistance, please contact me at (408) 730-7482.
Sincerely,
Robert LaSala
City Manager
