Comments from Outreach Meetings in February and March
At that meeting Larry Cannon, architect, gave a presentation on different housing types in Sunnyvale and examples of successful and less successful designs for additions or new homes. We distributed a handout regarding Design Values (see attached) and received feedback on what issues were most important to them.
Privacy was the biggest concern and included both window to window and window to yard privacy. This was also mixed with concerns about the "enforceability" of the guidelines and how the residents could be ensured that the guidelines would be followed by all new development.
Several of the residents lived in Eichler neighborhoods and felt strongly about preserving the character and style of the homes as well as protecting privacy, as those homes have large amounts of glass that more easily allow sightlines into living areas.
