BUSINESS LIAISON
(Part-time)

DEFINITION

This is a class of positions focused on the development of business relationships with employers in the seven-city region served by NOVA for the purpose of meeting their staffing and employee training needs. An individual in these positions operates under general supervision and plays a role as part of a team assisting the organization to develop better working relationships with businesses in our region. This class may include job developers, incumbent worker training project coordinators, or individuals charged with representing NOVA programs and services to the business community.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

This responsible position is characterized by opportunity for implementing new and innovative methods with limited structure or routine work. Work assignments are performed in collaboration with various levels of staff, independently, with responsibility for following through on administrative duties. Contacts are regularly made both internally and externally at all levels of the organization involving tact, discretion, good listening and customer service skills. The position requires analytical ability and the ability to exercise a reasonable degree of independent judgment. Additionally, the position requires excellent oral and written communication skills, public relations, an understanding of the business community, interpersonal, and problem solving skills and abilities. The Business Relationship Coordinator receives direction from program supervisors and management staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in a closely related field and one year of related work experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities. One year of experience in recruiting, staffing, or outside sales or human resources is preferred. Previous experience working in or with businesses in desirable.
