This study issue was originally scheduled for City Council consideration on August 27, 2002. That date was extended for two weeks to allow staff and the industrial community additional time to meet and discuss the findings of the study. Based on the amount of feedback received, staff recommended that the Planning Commission continue the study issue to October 14, 2002 and that Council review be continued to October 22, 2002. The additional time will provide staff the opportunity to more completely respond to the concerns of industry and to release a staff report several days earlier than the normal distribution schedule.

Public contact was made through the posting of the Council agenda on the City's Official Bulletin Board, posting of the agenda and the report on the City's web site, publication of the Council agenda in the San Jose Mercury News, and the availability of the report in the Library and the City Clerk's Office.

An e-mail was sent to interested parties regarding the continuance request of this item. On September 9, 2002, Planning Commission continued the item to October 14, 2002.
