Award of Bid #F0211-43 for Tasman Light Rail Pedestrian Access Improvements |

REPORT IN BRIEF |
|
Approval is requested for the award of a contract to Sposeto Engineering, Inc., of Union City for pedestrian access improvements to the Tasman Light Rail for the Department of Public Works Project Administration Section (Project #ST-01/03-03). |

BACKGROUND |
|
The scope of work for this project consists of pedestrian access improvements, including sidewalks, driveways, handicap ramps, curbs and irrigation/landscaping work around the Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) Light Rail System along Borregas, Crossman and Fair Oaks Avenues and Tasman Drive. |

DISCUSSION |
|
|
Bid specifications were prepared by Public Works and Purchasing staff. The Notice Inviting Bids was published in The Sun on November 20, 2002. The bid package was distributed to Bay Area Builders Exchanges and broadcast to potential contractors through the DemandStar by Onvia public procurement network. Twenty contractors requested bid documents. Sealed bids were publicly opened on December 18, 2002. Five responsive bids were received. |

It is recommended that Council: |

Award a contract in the amount of $362,655 to Sposeto Engineering, Inc., for the Tasman Light Rail Pedestrian Access Improvements Project; and |

Approve a contingency in the amount of $54,398 |
