2003 BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS WORK PLAN

REPORT IN BRIEF

As required by the Legislative Management Sub-Element of the General Plan, the City’s Boards and Commissions have developed their Work Plans to reflect Council’s priorities as adopted in the 2003 Council Study Calendar. The Work Plans have been incorporated into the attached Master Work Plan which highlights regularly scheduled Boards and Commissions meetings, any Joint Study Sessions with the City Council, review of the Code of Ethics, specific issues identified in the Council Study Calendars, and any routine assignments specific to a particular Board or Commission. Joint Study Sessions should have a clear purpose, but do not have to be focused on a Study Issue. Board and Commissions have been asked to identify opportunities on the Work Plan for the Mayor, Vice Mayor and Council to interact. Note that the Board of Building Code Appeals only meets on an as-needed basis, and as such does not adopt an annual Work Plan.

FISCAL IMPACT

There is no fiscal impact as a result of approving the Master Work Plan.

PUBLIC CONTACT

Each Work Plan was reviewed and approved by the appropriate Board or Commission at a public hearing. Standard public contact was made through posting of the Council agenda on the City’s official notice bulletin board, posting of the agenda and report on the City’s web page, and the availability of the report in the Library and City Clerk’s Office.

1. Approve the Boards and Commissions Work Plan.
2. Modify any of the work plans to incorporate other issues and direct staff to finalize the Master Work Plan

RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends alternative #1.
