Sunnyvale Community Church Public Outreach Program
397 South Mary Avenue at West Iowa Avenue

At stated by the leaders of the Sunnyvale Community  Church at the November 2002 hearing of the Sunnyvale City Council to initiate a general plan amendment for the site, a formal public hearing outreach program was implemented.  A series of neighborhood meetings were held with the intent to provide one one interaction with any concerned citizens.  Conceptual site plans, building plans, house plans, etc were shared and discussed with the neighbors.  Issues related to the site's existing trees, construction activity and proposed zoning were pointed out.

As series of meetings were held in order to allow smaller groups of citizens to attend and feel comfortable speaking.  A meeting was held on January 14, 2003 for the adjacent resident on Polk Avenue and Portia Avenue.  A meeting was held on January 21, 2003 for the neighbors on West Iowa Avenue and a general meeting for all other neighbors living within 300 feet of the site was held on February 4, 2003.  A total of 20 household attended one meeting or another.  Follow up phone calls were made to all attendees who left phone numbers in order to provide up dated information of the project's redesign issues and schedule status.  Overall all of the meetings were successful and resulted in numerous changes to the project's design in response to specific concerns.
