Approval is requested for the award of a contract to Lee & Ro, Inc., of Walnut Creek for engineering design and construction support services for the Lawrence Sewer Line Manholes Rehabilitation Project (Project #UY-02/05-03) for the Department of Public Works Project Administration Division.

This project addresses the issue of seventy-three corroding manholes in various locations along the Lawrence trunk sewer line. The recommended engineering consultant will inspect and assess site conditions, provide applicable design solutions, prepare plans and specifications, and provide construction support for the replacement of the manholes and related sewer lines.

A Request for Proposals was prepared by Public Works staff and made available to four local infrastructure engineering firms. Proposals were received from V&A Consulting Engineers of Oakland and Lee & Ro, Inc., of Walnut Creek. Public Works staff has determined that Lee & Ro, Inc., has the most experience with and is more qualified to address sewer line rehabilitation projects. Staff therefore, recommends award of contract to Lee & Ro, Inc.
