IF a motion is made to retain the position of Detective Vice/Narcotics and if it fails, then I would propose the following cuts to allow this position to restored in the budget (in order of preference):
1. Elimination of operating funds for the water feature in the Community Center
2. Further reduction of 25% in Council travel budget to 50% of the current level
3. Elimination of lifetime medical benefits for Council members
4. Elimination of dental and vision coverage for Council members (as you know this was added about 3 years ago)
5. Elimination of free dependent medical coverage for Council members (need to set an example of what may be needed for all employees in the future)
6. Elimination of all City-paid meals at Council study sessions
7. The balance, if necessary, from fiscal uncertainties.
I would appreciate it if you could individually document the cost savings from the above items 1 through 6 and whether any additional funds would be needed from item 7.
