SUNNYVALE Child Care Advisory Board
The Child Care Advisory Board met on October 21, 2004 in the West Conference Room, 456 W. Olive Avenue, at 1:14 p.m. with Carole Jevons, Chair, presiding.

CONSENT CALENDAR
BOARD MEMBER Carmack motioned to excuse BOARD MEMBER Ozdemir’s absence due to a work schedule conflict. BOARD MEMBER Gutierrez seconded the motion.
MOTION CARRIED
BOARD MEMBER Carmack noted a spelling correction on her last name in the Board Present section. Correction noted. With no other modifications to the 7/1/04 draft minutes, BOARD MEMBER Sells motioned to accept the minutes as modified. BOARD MEMBER Shea seconded the motion.

BOARD MEMBER Shea suggested changing specific verbiage in the Study Issue, “Explore the City’s Role in Supporting Universal Preschool.” Rather than stating a bachelor’s degree is required, to instead, indicate that unit requirements from local colleges will be required. With no other modifications, BOARD MEMBER Carmack motioned to accept the Study Issue as modified. BOARD MEMBER Shea seconded the motion.

BOARD MEMBER Carmack motioned to change the CCAB meeting date and time to the second Tuesday of every quarter, 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. BOARD MEMBER Gutierrez seconded the motion.

PUBLIC HEARINGS/GENERAL BUSINESS
Kristen Nigriny, Child Care Manager gave a Quarterly Update.
Kristen Nigriny will bring a draft 2005 Work Plan to the next meeting, scheduled on January 11, 2005.
Kristen Nigriny provided a status of the 2003 CCAB One-Stop Resource Center Issue.
NON-AGENDA ITEMS AND COMMENTS
BOARD MEMBER Gutierrez attended the Board and Commissions meeting that took place on August 21, 2004 to address any concerns. She reminded the members to keep in mind that all Boards & Commissions can help and/or support one another on Study Issues.
A Special meeting will be scheduled during the first week of December to review the business/child care partnership Study Issue. Kristen Nigriny will email the date once it has been determined.
INFORMATION ONLY ITEMS

The City’s Child Care Resources Office and The Parent Leadership Institute of Palo Alto will host a workshop, “Healing the Hurt of Separation”, for child care providers, October 25, 2004 from 7-9 pm at the Sunnyvale Senior Center.
