The Housing & Human Services Commission met in a regular session in the West Conference Room at 456 W. Olive Ave., Sunnyvale City Hall, Sunnyvale, CA 94086, on March 23, 2005 at 7:08 p.m. with Chairperson Nancy Smith presiding.

CONSENT CALENDAR

 

Commissioner Pathak made a motion to approve the Draft Minutes of February 17, 2005 as submitted.  Commissioner Seshadri seconded.  Motion carried 6-1 with Commissioner Callan abstaining and Commissioners Joshi and Tenneti absent.

CITIZENS TO BE HEARD

 

Rene Kellythorne, of The Health Trust, one of the agencies requesting funding, provided the Commission with a Senior Nutrition Meal Program as requested from the Commission’s last meeting.  She availed herself to Commission for questions.  The Commission had no further questions and thanked her for the additional information.

 

Michelle Smith, of Friends for Youth, one of the agencies requesting funding, availed herself to the Commission for any further clarification or information of their proposal prior to the funding recommendation.  The Commission had no further questions and thanked her.

 

Michelle Schroeder, of Senior Adult Legal Assistance, one of the agencies requesting funding, reported that the agency has provided the additional information that the Commission requested to staff and availed herself should there be any further questions.  Chair Smith commented that the Commission received the agency’s responses. The Commission had no further questions and thanked Ms. Schroeder.

 

PUBLIC HEARINGS/GENERAL BUSINESS

 

A.     Discussion and  Ranking of all Outside Groups for Human Services Funding for Fiscal Year 2005/2006 and Fiscal Year 2006/2007

 

The Commission shared their numerical rating evaluation of each of the agencies’ proposals. They discussed the funding requests as they relate to the agency performance, service levels and possible duplication of services. 

 

After an extensive discussion about the agencies’ proposals and allocation of funds, the Commission concurred with the staff’s recommendation for funding with the exception of the staff funding recommendation for Leadership Sunnyvale and the India Community Center.

 

Vice Chair Steward and Comm. Seshadri departed the meeting at 8:45PM.
