COMMISSION MEETING

 

The Parks and Recreation Commission adjourned from 5:30 p.m. Study Session, Roles of Commission and Staff, held in the City Council Chambers and met in regular session in the City Council Chambers, 456 West Olive Avenue, Sunnyvale, CA, at 7:03 p.m. with Chair Arnett presiding.

 

Call to Order

 

Chair Arnett called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m.

Chair Arnett led the salute to the flag.

Approval of minutes

 

Commissioner Manfrey moved, Commissioner Lawson seconded, to approve the February 11, 2004, Parks and Recreation Commission meeting minutes.

Motion carried unanimously

 

Public Appearances

 

Chair Arnett opened the meeting for Public Appearances. There were none and the Public Appearances were closed.

Staff Report

 

Ms. Merrill’s said her staff report would stand as submitted.

Director Walker also provided information regarding Senior Center billiards and age requirement. He said staff is considering updating the billiards rules and regulations and will be reviewing once again with the Senior Center Advisory Committee the Senior Center policies governing age restrictions and guests. Director Walker reminded the Commissioners that the age requirement and billiards rules and regulations are operational policies.

 

City Council Update (2/24/04)

Director Walker provided an update on the three issues that went before Council on February 24, 2004:

  • RTC 04-066 Consideration of Naming Stadium Court at the Sunnyvale Municipal Tennis Center Jan Young Court
    • Council accepted staff and Parks & Recreation Commission’s recommendation. The motion carried with Councilmember Swegeles dissenting.
  • RTC 04-067 Proposed Change to Tennis Center License Agreement
    • Council accepted staff and Parks & Recreation Commission’s recommendation. The motion carried unanimously.
  • RTC 04-077 Amendment to Fremont High School Swim Pool Agreement and to Sunnyvale Municipal Code Section 10.16.040 (parking)
    • Council accepted staff and Parks & Recreation Commission’s recommendation. The motion carried unanimously.
