SUNNYVALE personnel board

The Personnel Board met in regular session in Council Chambers, 456 W. Olive Avenue.  The meeting was called to order at 5:07 p.m. with Werner Gans presiding.

ROLL CALL

Present:        Frank Agabah, Werner Gans, Stephanie Saprai

Staff:           Erwin Young, Director of Human Resources

PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENTS

None.

CONSENT CALENDAR

1. a) Saparai moved the minutes of the September 19, 2005 meeting be approved as submitted.  Seconded by Agabah and unanimously carried.

   b) Review of 2006 Work Plan - no action taken.

CITIZENS TO BE HEARD

None

GENERAL BUSINESS

2. a) Consideration of Employee Suggestions:

Gans moved a $100 award for suggestion #04-09, Junk Faxes.  Seconded by Saprai and unanimously carried.   Suggestor: Dona Connell, Department of Parks and Recreation.  

Gans moved a $200 award for suggestion 05-19, Pavement Asphalt Screws for Securing Speed Volume Hoses.  Seconded by Saprai and unanimously carried. Suggestor: Wahid Amiri, Department of Public Works.

Saprai moved no award for suggestion 05-20, Fire, Police EMS Emergency Rehabilitation Kit.  Seconded by Agabah and unanimously carried.  Suggestor: Kerry Adamo, Department of Human Resources.

Chairman Gans asked that suggestion 05-21 be returned to suggestor for details on the cost of the system.  Suggestor may resubmit suggestion with this information.

b)  Gans moved the authorization for the Director of Human Resources to send proposed changes to the Personnel Board Appeals Hearing Procedure to the bargaining units for input and approval with the following addition: Within three (3) working days before the scheduled hearing, the employee or their representative shall notify the City Attorney of their intent to go ahead with the hearing, otherwise the hearing will be cancelled. In addition, if the employee or the employee representative fails to provide the joint hearing packet as required by these rules, the City shall provide written notice to employee and the employee representative that the hearing will be cancelled.  Seconded by Saprai and unanimously carried.
