MINUTES
SUNNYVALE personnel board
The Personnel Board met in regular session in Council Chambers, 456 W. Olive Avenue. The meeting was called to order at 5:30 P.M. with Karen Bushman presiding.

Staff: Jane Fleenor, Interim Director of Human Resources. Mndy Vargas, Recording Secretary
Also Pesent: Marc Hynes, Atkinson Farasyn
SCHEDULED PRESENTATION
Marc Hynes gave a presentation on The Brown Act.

CONSENT CALENDAR
1. Marc Ketzel moved the minutes of the March 21, 2005 meeting be approved as submitted. Seconded by Werner Gans and unanimously carried.
CITIZENS TO BE HEARD
None
GENERAL BUSINESS
a) Consideration of Employee Suggestions:
Suggestion #05-16, Replace Bottled Water with Water Filter System at City Hall Break Room. The Personnel Board asked Staff to find out: who currently pays for the water and why do they get bottled water now since the tap water is available and meets or exceeds regulations.
Bushman moved a $25 award for suggestion #05-17, Indoor Sports Center - Gym Floor. Approved 4 to 1. Suggestor: Paul Jacquemet, Department of Parks and Recreation.
NON-AGENDA ITEMS AND COMMENTS
Jane Fleenor read an announcement from the City Clerk about the Boards and Commissions spring recruitment and deadlines.
Jane Fleenor told the Personnel Board and Marc Hynes (Personnel Board attorney) that an employee submitted a request to appeal disciplinary action. Several dates, available to all, were noted as possible hearing dates.
Ericka Reguerin updated the group on the Task Force meeting she attended on April 7th as a representative of the Personnel Board.
Werner Gans asked Jane Fleenor to speak to Amy Chan, City Manager, about the provision in the deferred compensation plan which requires an employee to ask the Personnel Board if they can make an emergency withdrawal. He would like the employee to be able to go directly to one person in H.R. to make the request. All members of the Board agreed.
