2004-0054 – Curves for Women [Applicant] S&S Properties [Owner] – Application for a Special Development Permit on a 1.13 acre site to allow a 1,991 square foot fitness center in Mary Manor shopping center. The property is located at 201 South Mary Avenue in a C-1/PD (Neighborhood Business/Planned Development) Zoning District. (APN: 161-37-035) RK
In attendance: Justin Brown, Applicant; Pat O’Brien, Fred Bell, Administrative Hearing Officer; Ryan Kuchenig, Project Planner; and, Gloria Barron, Recording Secretary.
Mr. Fred Bell, Administrative Hearing Officer, on behalf of the Director of Community Development, explained the format that would be observed during the public hearing.
Mr. Bell announced the subject application.
Ryan Kuchenig, Project Planner, presented the staff report. He summarized the subject application and recommended approval of the Special Development Permit subject to the Conditions of Approval.
Mr. Bell noted that he read the staff report and visited the site. He asked staff when the center was proposed to be completed and ready for occupancy. Staff did not have the exact date and referred the question to the applicant.
Mr. Bell opened the public hearing.
Justin Brown, Applicant, stated that the center is proposing to open on March 1st and will be ready for occupancy on March 14th. He stated that he has two other fitness centers that have been successful and hopes that the one in Sunnyvale will also be successful. He reviewed and agreed to the Conditions of Approval.
Mr. Bell closed the public hearing.
Mr. Bell concurred with the Findings provided by staff and approved the Special Development Permit with the Conditions of Approval recommended by staff.
Mr. Bell stated that the decision is final unless appealed during the 15-day appeal period.
The meeting was adjourned at 1:24 p.m.
