Wednesday, June 30, 2004

2004-0097 – NSA Wireless [Applicant] Pacific Gas & Electric Co. [Owner]: Application on a 35,100 square foot site for a Variance from SMC (Sunnyvale Municipal Code) section 19.32.020 to allow a six-foot and eight-inch extension to an existing 93-foot PG & E tower for a total of 99 feet and 8 inches where a maximum structure height of 55 feet is allowed.  The property is located at 602 East Weddell Drive in an R-0 (Low Density Residential) Zoning District (APN:  110-15-019) CC

In attendance: Steve Story, Applicant; Gerri Caruso, Administrative Hearing Officer; Christine Cannizzo, Project Planner; and, Gloria Barron, Recording Secretary. 

Ms. Gerri Caruso, Administrative Hearing Officer, on behalf of the Director of Community Development, explained the format that would be observed during the public hearing.

Ms. Caruso announced the subject application.

Christine Cannizzo, Project Planner, presented the staff report.  She summarized the subject application and recommended approval of the Variance subject to the Conditions of Approval. 

Ms. Caruso opened the public hearing.

Steve D. Story, Applicant, received and reviewed a copy of the staff report.  He had no comments regarding the Conditions of Approval.  Ms. Caruso confirmed with Mr. Story that this would be the third carrier on the site.  Mr. Story stated that Sprint and Nextel are existing carriers on the set tower and they are moving Sprint from a lower AGL to a higher AGL.  

Ms. Caruso closed the public hearing.

Ms. Caruso approved the Variance application subject to the Findings provided by staff with the Conditions of Approval as recommended by staff.

Ms. Caruso stated that the decision is final unless appealed during the 15-day appeal period.

The meeting was adjourned at 2:07 p.m.
