SUBJECT: CERTIFICATION OF 2003 GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION RESULTS AND CANVASS OF RETURNS FROM COUNTY REGISTRAR OF VOTERS - update

REPORT IN BRIEF

This report recommends the City Council adopt the attached resolution certifying the results of the November 4, 2003 General Municipal Election.

DISCUSSION

As of this writing, the Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters has not yet completed the official canvass of returns for the City’s November 4, 2003 General Municipal Election. We are awaiting the receipt of their certification for  the votes cast, of which we have been informed we will receive the morning of Tuesday, November 25, 2003.  At that time this report and certifying Resolution will be updated with the data contained in the official canvass and distributed to Council prior to the November 25, 2003 evening Council meeting.

The City Council is required to declare the results of the election by resolution.
