Award of Contract To Provide Newspapers and Periodicals on Microfilm For the Public Library (#F0309-21) |

|
Approval is requested for the award of a three-year contract to ProQuest Information and Learning of Chicago, Illinois, for newspaper and periodical microfilm subscription services for the Sunnyvale Public Library. |
| BACKGROUND
|
|
The Library has contracted with ProQuest to provide this service over the past seven years, renewing on an annual basis. The microfilm collection allows library patrons to view and print articles that would otherwise be unavailable.
In the past, there has been a 10% increase in pricing each year. The requested three-year renewal agreement will hold the pricing at the 2004 level, resulting in a savings of 10% per year. | |

| DISCUSSION |
| Section 2.08.070(b) of the Sunnyvale Municipal Code exempts from competitive bidding Public Library collection materials and services. |
| FISCAL IMPACT |
|
Total cost to the City for a three-year contract will not exceed $90,000. Funds are available in the operating budget for Library Program 636-Library Collection Management. |

| RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that Council award a three-year contract in an amount not to exceed $90,000 to ProQuest Information and Learning and authorize the Purchasing Officer to issue a Purchase Order to that effect. |
