AMENDMENT No. 1 TO PUBLIC SAFETY OFFICERS ASSOCIATION (PSOA) MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MOU) DATED July 1, 1997June 30, 2006

 

 

Whereas,      The MOU between the City and PSOA includes a provision for a “re-opener”, as follows:  ”The MOU shall “reopen” in July 2003, with negotiations to start prior thereto, concerning medical, dental, and long-term disability benefits for bargaining unit members”; and

 

Whereas,     The parties have met over a period of several months, and have jointly agreed to conclude the negotiations related to the July 2003 re-opener, and that no changes shall be made as a result of this re-opener; and

 

Whereas,     The parties have further agreed to enter into a new re-opener, concerning medical insurance for bargaining unit members;

 

Therefore,     It is agreed, that the following change will be made to the 1997-2006 PSOA MOU:

 

Section 13.6 of Article 13 of the MOU shall be replaced in its entirety, and shall read as follows:

 

Article 13       Insurances

 

13.6         Reopener

 

                   The MOU shall “reopen” in January 2005, with negotiations to start no later than January 31, 2005, concerning medical insurance for bargaining unit members.

 

a.                  Any change to the City’s contribution towards this insurance would be effective the first of the month following approval of the change by the Sunnyvale City Council but no earlier than July 1, 2005.  If any agreement is reached and approved by the Sunnyvale City Council after the July 1, 2005 salary increase implementation (usually after October 1, 2005), the change shall take effect on June 30, 2006.
