The City Council of the City of Sunnyvale met in a special session in the City Council Chambers, 456 West Olive Avenue, Sunnyvale, CA at 8:30 a.m., with Mayor Howe presiding.

UPON CONSIDERATION OF THE PROCESS DESCRIBED IN AGENDA ITEM 1, REVIEW AND DISCUSS THE SERVICES
THROUGH THE FOLLOWING STEPS, OR AS DIRECTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL:
A presentation by the Department Director;
Comments or clarifying questions raised by City Council Members;
Suggested new services, adjustments to service levels for existing services, or potential service deletions made by City Council Members;
A public hearing; and
ACCEPT OR ACCEPT WITH REVISIONS THE SERVICE LEVEL REVIEW WORKSHEETS AS PRESENTED FOR THE FOLLOWING CITY DEPARTMENTs IN THE FOLLOWING ORDER:

Director Bob Paternoster presented the staff report.
Mayor Howe opened the Public Hearing at 8:45 a.m.
Nancy Smith, Chair of Housing and Human Services Commission, spoke to support the Commission’s programs and answer questions of the Council.
Nancy Tivol, member of the public, expressed support of the program.
There being no more public comments, Mayor Howe closed the Public Hearing at 8:50 p.m.

Director Paternoster presented the staff report and noted a typographical error on #9 worksheet which should read “non-mandatory study” instead of “mandatory study” (first paragraph, fourth line).
COUNCILMEMBER FOWLER REQUESTED STAFF BRING BACK FOR THE APRIL MEETING, INFORMATION REGARDING THE ACTIVE POPULATION SERVED, NUMBER OF REQUESTS MADE AND HOW MANY PEOPLE FOR EACH REQUEST, FOR ITEMS 15 – 17.
Mayor Howe opened the public hearing at 9:00 a.m. and there being no public comments, closed the public hearing.
COUNCILMEMBER MILLER MOVED, COUNCILMEMBER FOWLER SECONDED WITH A FRIENDLY AMENDMENT TO APPROVE STAFF’S RECOMMENDATION WITH NO CHANGES EXCEPT FOR #15 - 17 SCALABLE, AS FOLLOWS.
COUNCILMEMBER LEE MADE A FRIENDLY AMENDMENT TO CHANGE # 8 – 11 SCALABLE WITH #10 MARGINALLY SCALABLE. THE AMENDMENT WAS ACCEPTED.
