Dear Co-Sponsored Club President:

When we met this past April/ May, I made a commitment to get back in touch with you regarding the fees to be charged to co-sponsored clubs for the use of City recreation facilities.  With the few exceptions as noted below, the Department of Parks and Recreation will start charging the fees shown on the “Facility Rental Rate Schedule Effective July 1, 2003” which is attached. Please note that the Department of Parks and Recreation is providing a six-month grace period for all 2003/2004 co-sponsored organizations so charges for facility rentals will not take effect until January 1, 2004.

After January 1, co-sponsored groups using facilities at the Community Center, Senior Center and Park Buildings will be charged the Sunnyvale Non-Profit Rate as noted on the Facility Rental Rate Schedule. Co-sponsored organizations using the Sunnyvale School District gymnasium facilities (i.e. Sunnyvale Badminton Club) will be charged the rental rate of $35/ hour. (The attached schedule does not include School District sites). In addition, ball field rental fees charged to Youth Sports Leagues (baseball, softball, football and soccer) have yet to be determined. Staff is working with the league presidents to determine a fair and equitable fee and will be getting that information back to the League Presidents when the rate is final. Again, no facility rental fees for co-sponsored organizations will go into effect until January 1, 2004.

Thank you for your support to the Co-sponsored organizations as they help provide a wide range of options for recreational activities to Sunnyvale citizens. If you have any questions regarding the facility rental rates, please do not hesitate to contact either your staff liaison or myself at 730-7531.

Sincerely,
