SUNNYVALE ESTABLISHES GUN TURN-IN PROGRAM

SUNNYVALE, Calif. – As part of Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety’s (DPS) efforts to keep Sunnyvale safe, a new gun turn-in program has begun. Guns may be turned in any time on any day at Sunnyvale DPS, 700 All America Way. To turn in a weapon, come to the DPS building and leave the unloaded weapon in your vehicle. Come into the lobby and notify staff that you have a weapon for turn in. A desk officer will retrieve the unloaded and cleared weapon from your vehicle.

“Our gun turn-in program will be on-going,” said DPS Chief Don Johnson. “We are working together with our residents to reduce the number of weapons in the community by encouraging the public to turn in old and unwanted weapons.”

All weapons collected through the turn-in program will be destroyed. For more information about the gun turn-in program, call Sunnyvale DPS at (408) 730-7100.
