The City Council met in study session at City Hall in the West Conference Room at 456 West Olive Avenue, Sunnyvale, California on August 22, 2006, at 5:00 p.m., with Mayor Ron Swegles presiding.

Study Session Summary:
- League of California Cities (LCC) Annual Conference Itinerary
Staff distributed 2006 LLC conference itineraries to Councilmembers.
- Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC)/ Onizuka AFS Update
Staff provided an update on BRAC activities that were completed since the prior BRAC update on May 16, 2006, and summarized upcoming activities that were scheduled through January 2007, including: the selection of the Citizen’s Advisory Committee (CAC); status of the grant application submitted to the Office of Economic Adjustment (OEA); the Notice of Interest (NOI) process and NOI Workshop; and status of meeting with Congresswoman Anna Eshoo and the Veteran’s Administration (VA) regarding the VA’s request for a portion of the Onizuka site.
COUNCILMEMBER Howe motioned to direct City Staff to reschedule a meeting with Congresswoman Eshoo, VA representatives and City Councilmembers and Staff, locally; in the event a timely meeting cannot be scheduled locally, then a meeting should be scheduled with Congresswoman Eshoo, VA representatives, and Councilimembers and Staff in Washington D.C. Additionally, Staff is to schedule a staff-to-staff meeting with local VA representatives. Staff is to provide Council and the Onizuka Local Redevelopment Authority with an update on the scheduling status, and outcomes, of the meetings every two weeks. COUNCILMEMBER Moylan seconded the motion. By unanimous vote, the MOTION CARRIED.
IGR Committee Assignment Reports
IGR committee assignments reports were deferred to the September 12, 2006, IGR Study Session.
