DISCUSSION

Based on this evening’s interview with Mr. Roland Wanigatunga, Mayor Swegles asked staff to follow-up with Mr. Wanigatunga to confirm whether or not he is interested in being considered for the Arts Commission in addition to the Parks and Recreation Commission.

Mayor Swegles asked staff to follow-up on comments made by an applicant regarding a recent resignation on the Housing and Human Services Commission.  City Clerk Chappelear indicated that her office was notified of the resignation last week.  The Resignation Report to Council is being prepared and the vacancy will be included in the 2006 Fall Recruitment.  It was also noted that the resignation occurred after the 2006 Spring Recruitment deadline had passed and there are no applications on file for the Housing and Human Services Commission.

Following a brief discussion, Mayor Swegles asked staff to provide the board and commission meeting attendance records for the past twelve months for the incumbent applicants and current board and commission members applying for a different board or commission.

Council clarified procedures for the June 13th Council meeting:

·                     Vacancies on Boards/Commissions will be considered in this order:

                   Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee

                   Planning Commission

                   Park and Recreation Commission

                   Board of Building Code Appeals

                   Board of Library Trustees

                   Child Care Advisory Board

                   Heritage Preservation Commission

·                     Applicants for each Board/Commission vacancy will be considered in alphabetical order based on last name.

·                     When there are terms of varying length for a Board/Commission, appointments for the longest terms will be considered first.

ADJOURNMENT

Mayor Swegles adjourned the meeting at 10:36 p.m.
