Award of Bid No. F0501-47 for the Rehabilitation of the Borregas Avenue Sanitary Sewer

 

Staff Recommendation: Alternative No. 1: Council awards a contract, in substantially the same form as the attached draft and in the amount of $487,700, to Insituform Technologies, Inc., for the Borregas Avenue Sanitary Sewer Project; and approves a project contingency in the amount of $73,155.

Award of Bid No. F0501-45 for the Application of Slurry Seal on Streets throughout the City

 

Staff Recommendation: Alternative No. 1: Council awards a contract, in substantially the same form as the attached Contract Draft No. 1 and in the amount $237,700, to Graham Contractors, Inc., for the application of slurry seal on various Sunnyvale streets and approves a project contingency in the amount of $23,770, making a total contract not to exceed amount of $261,470).

Respond to request of Santa Clara Valley Water District and Santa Clara County for support of California State Assembly Bill 2435 (Santa Clara County Flood Protection and Clean Water Accountability Act) to amend the enabling act of the Santa Clara Valley Water District, Chapter 1405 of the Statutes of 1951

 

Staff Recommendation:  Alternative No. 1: Council authorizes the Mayor to sign a letter of support for AB 2435, the “Santa Clara County Flood Protection and Clean Water Accountability Act,” and have support letter sent to the appropriate legislative contacts, Santa Clara Valley Water District Board of Directors, and Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors.

Adoption of Ordinance No. 2802-06 Amending Various Provisions of Title 19 of the Sunnyvale Municipal Code, the Zoning Code, related to Places of Assembly

Status Report on the Services and City Subsidy of Sc[i]3  - the Sunnyvale Center for Innovations, Invention and Ideas – A Partnership between the City of Sunnyvale and the United States Patent and Trademark Office

 

Staff Recommendation: Council discontinues Sc[i]3  Partnership Services as of June 30, 2006, but remain a Patent and Trademark Depository Library, and increases Ongoing Operating Costs in the Amount of $5,000 Beginning in FY 2006/2007

Explore Community Support for Community Events (Study Issue)

 

Staff Recommendation:

Approve the attached draft Council policy on Special Events which:

a. Consolidates and clarifies the City’s special event policies;
b. Encourages private sponsorship of events in alignment with council policy from organizations inside and outside the community; 

c. Identifies the manner in which the City supports events conducted by other organizations;

d. Enables private sector support for City-owned events through increased use of sponsorships;
e. Encourages the City to explore participating in the formation of community associations, or other non profit entities, to support or manage community events.

  • Opening remarks by the applicant (if applicable) are limited to ten minutes.
  • Speakers are requested to give their name (address is optional).
  • Speakers are to turn in a Speaker Card to the City Clerk.
  • Anyone interested in addressing the Council (may only speak one time).
  • Closing remarks by the applicant (if applicable) are limited to ten minutes.
  • Time limit of 3 minutes per person (may be extended at discretion of Mayor).  Please make comments brief and be prepared to provide new input.

  • Any item relevant to the City of Sunnyvale.
  • Speakers are requested to give their name (address is optional).
