City Owned Properties – Downtown Block 15

The City Council met in a study session at City Hall in the West Conference Room, 456 West Olive Avenue, Sunnyvale, California on November 14, 2006 at 5:30 p.m., with Mayor Ron Swegles presiding.

Call to Order

Mayor Swegles called the meeting to order at 5:35 p.m.

 

Study Session Summary:

  1. Origin of Study Session

    Staff referenced the motion passed at the City Council Meeting of June 20, 2006 as the origin of the study session.
     
  2. Overview of City Owned Property – Block 15

Staff gave a presentation on the following City properties:

  • 406 Charles Avenue
  • 344 Charles Avenue
  • 388 Charles Avenue
  • 377-9 South Mathilda Avenue
  • 365 South Mathilda Avenue
  • 403 South Mathilda Avenue  
  1. Discussion of Alternatives

Staff presented four specific alternatives for City owned property on Block 15:

1)     Sell two additional properties and keep the others

2)     Sell all properties as residential

3)     Wait until developer assemblage

4)     Hold until after Mall development is completed

 

  1. Questions

Staff answered questions from Council regarding specific properties on Block 15, alternatives 1-4 as well as current property management practices.

 

  1. Council Feedback

Council provided feedback and expressed interest in revisiting the June 20, 2006 motion at a future Council meeting in order to provide further direction.
