Review of Town Center Architectural Plans

The City Council met in the West Conference Room at the City Hall, Sunnyvale, California on August 14, 2007, 5:45 PM, with Vice Mayor Spitaleri presiding.

 

City Councilmembers Present:

Call to Order:

Vice Mayor Spitaleri called the Study Session to order at 5:45 PM

 

Study Session Summary:  

Ken Rodrigues, lead architect for the Town Center Redevelopment project, gave a presentation and progress report on the project’s architectural designs.

 

Questions & Comments from City Council:

No Council action was taken or direction given. Individual Councilmembers provided comments, questions and suggestions which included:

·       The need for better pedestrian access on Aries Way

·       Concern with the location of the service doors at the pedestrian level of the office buildings on Aries

·       Questions about entrance features at McKinley/Mathilda

·       Questions about the Murphy Avenue extension buildings reflect the historic character of the 100 Block of Murphy

·       Approval of the changes made to the office buildings

·       Pleased with the changes made to the parking structures

·       Support for the new residential elevations on McKinley showing multiple buildings

·       The retail buildings on the first floor showing all glass is a positive feature

·       Pleased with the level of responsiveness the applicant has shown in addressing a number of the Council’s concerns

·       Variety of architecture in the project is a great feature

·       Overall pleased the applicant has taken this part of the project a bit slower to achieve a much better design
