The City Council met in study session at City Hall in the West Conference Room, City Hall, 456 W. Olive Ave., Sunnyvale, California on October 30, 2007 at 6:00 p.m., with Mayor Otto Lee and Vice Mayor Anthony Spitaleri presiding.

Call to Order: 6:00 p.m.

 

 

Study Session Summary:  

Chief Don Johnson opened the session with an overview of Federal, State, and County initiatives related to Voice and Data Interoperability for Emergency Responders.  Public Safety Lieutenant John Gienger provided a slide presentation detailing the Council’s Role during an Emergency or Disaster.  Topics included an historical overview of Emergency Preparedness and Response, Incident Management, Legal Considerations During an Emergency or Disaster, and Responsibilities and Expectations of Council Related to Disaster Management. 

 

Council Members asked questions and commented in relation to disaster preparedness materials that are provided to the public, legal protections for citizens who provide emergency aid, the mechanics of a Disaster Declaration by Council, shift coverage and availability of Council during a disaster, and individual preparedness.

 

No questions or comments were raised by the public.
