2007-0125 Request by the Applicant for a Continuance of an Appeal of a Planning Commission decision by the Applicant approving a Use Permit regarding the height and setback for a new eight-foot six-inch high fence in the front yard area for a property located at 715 Sheraton Drive (near Hollenbeck Avenue)

RTC 07-301

 

Carbon Dioxide Emissions Reduction Plan for City Operations (2006 Study Issue Follow Up)

 

Staff Recommendation:

·      Council continues as a member of Sustainable Silicon Valley and officially adopts its standard goal of 20% reduction of CO2 emissions (from 1990 baseline year levels) from 15 City facilities, fleet, traffic lights and streetlights by 2010;

·      Council directs staff to return with project-specific plans and budget proposals for consideration in the budget process and, subject to the City’s ability to fund and execute the projects, to implement all recommended Tier 1 and Tier 2 projects; and to return to Council in 2009, or as needed, to evaluate additional measures in order to reach a 20% emission reduction goal;

·      Council signs on to the U.S. Mayor’s Climate Protection Agreement;

·      Council becomes a reporting member of the California Climate Action Registry; and

·      Council revises the Exclusive Use Permit to require a permit for an open fire in park fire pits to control materials burned and reduce air pollution.

2006-0271 Rezoning Study for Existing Places of Assembly Sites on Residentially Zoned Properties to the Public Facility Zoning District (Study Issue)

 

Staff Recommendation: Council approves the rezoning of all residentially zoned property containing places of assembly uses that are greater than 1.5 acres in size to the PF (Public Facilities) Zoning District, with the exception of the ITR zoned property at 420-460 Persian Drive. A total of 11 properties would be rezoned under this recommendation.

Sunnyvale Caltrain Station North Side Access Post-Project Follow Up Issues

 

Staff Recommendation:

·      Council accepts the follow up report on the Caltrain North Side Access Project.

·      Council considers whether or not to further explore a capital project to improve the south side of Hendy Avenue from Taaffe Street to Sunnyvale Avenue as a budget issue for the FY 08/09 budget;

·      Council considers this coming January a possible study for calendar year 2008 that would perform a detailed analysis of parking management alternatives for the neighborhood north of the Sunnyvale Caltrain station, including residential permit parking; and

·      Council considers this coming January a possible study/capital improvement for calendar year 2008 of new access from Angel Avenue to the City owned parking lot underneath the Mathilda overpass.

§         Speakers are requested to give their name (address is optional).

§         Speakers are to turn in a speaker card to the city clerk.

§         Closing remarks by the applicant (if applicable) are limited to ten minutes.

§         Time limit of three minutes per person (may be extended at discretion of mayor).  Please make comments brief and be prepared to provide new input.
