The City Council met in study session at City Hall in the West Conference Room, 456 W. Olive Avenue, Sunnyvale, California on September 11, 2007 at 5 p.m., with Vice Mayor Spitaleri presiding.

Study Session Summary:
The City Manager introduced the subject: Council’s policies governing boards and commissions. The Assistant City Manager provided a detailed review of existing policies, particularly as they relate to the manner in which board and commission members represent themselves and official vs. personal positions on issues coming before their board or commission. Discussion ensued and public questions and comments were taken. The City Attorney is to provide an opinion regarding the legality of the City precluding board and commission members from providing opinions as private individuals, contrary to the official positions of their board or commission.
