The City Council of the City of Sunnyvale met in a Special Meeting in the City Hall - West Conference Room, 456 West Olive Avenue, Sunnyvale, California. Mayor Spitaleri called the meeting to order at 5:40 p.m. and interviews proceeded in the order scheduled. |

BOARD AND COMMISSION INTERVIEWS
Council conducted interviews on for the following boards and commissions:
- Arts Commission
- Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission
- Housing and Human Services Commission
- Personnel Board
- Planning Commission
PUBLIC COMMENTS
None.
DISCUSSION
Council discussed the interview process and the handling of late applications. Vice Mayor Hamilton stated late applicants should not be scheduled for interviews at this time because they missed the deadline.
Councilmember Whittum advised he would like the interviews to occur.
Mayor Spitaleri inquired when the applications were received and City Clerk Borkowski responded that one applicant informed staff on the day of the deadline, April 11, 2008, that they were sending in their application. City Clerk Borkowski explained that application was received by the Office of the City Clerk the following Monday, April 14, 2008. City Clerk Borkowski stated the remaining two applications were received within a few days of the deadline.
Mayor Spitaleri agreed to allow the late applicants to be interviewed.
Mayor Spitaleri requested staff determine a date to schedule interviews for the late applicants and confirm the availability of councilmembers.
City Clerk Gail Borkowski provided Council with possible dates for additional interviews; however, Councilmembers Howe and Swegles advised they were unavailable on all three suggested dates.
Councilmember Moylan suggested setting an interview date for the late applicants be handled at a later time.
City Clerk Borkowski advised that staff would follow up on the mayor’s request to determine a date for additional interviews.
ADJOURNMENT
Mayor Spitaleri adjourned the meeting at 7:30 p.m.
