The Housing Division provides programs that offer housing opportunities for low and moderate income households and low interest loans and grants to Sunnyvale homeowners for housing rehabilitation, emergency repairs, exterior painting and accessibility.

  

Affordable Housing Programs

The City of Sunnyvale provides affordable housing opportunities for very low to moderate income individuals and families through the Below Market Rate (BMR) Homeownership and Rental Program; Housing for Public School Employees, City Employees and Child Care Employees (HPCC) and First Time Home Buyer Down Payment Assistance and Individual Development Account (IDA) Program. 

The City of Sunnyvale Below Market Rate (BMR) Home Ownership Program Wait List is now closed.

 

Outside Group Funding

Outside Group Funding allows organizations providing services to Sunnyvale to request funding to meet significant community needs. Proposers requesting City funding must relate services to existing City goals, policies and action plans to be eligible for funding consideration.

 

2005-2010 Consolidated Plan

The City of Sunnyvale receives grant funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for housing and community development projects and programs. Every five years, the City must prepare a “Consolidated Plan” to develop a strategy to use the funds to maximum advantage. The City encourages community participation in the update of the Consolidated Plan.

Low Interest Loans and Grants

Sunnyvale has also been active in addressing issues of neighborhood quality. We offer a number of creative financing programs to assist property owners in making building improvements including low interest loans and grants.

Housing and Human Services Commission
The Housing and Human Services Commission advises the City Council on existing and potential programs, policies, and other issues regarding housing and human services in Sunnyvale. In addition, it advises the Council on City funding of outside groups and reviews Housing Community Development Block Grant programs and priorities.
