Steps for Review and Approval

Here are the following steps you need to go through to get Planning Division approval for your home remodel.

  1. Get the Zoning District for your lot by going to E-Zoning or contacting a planner.
  2. Get the Single Family Zoning Requirements for that zoning district.
  3. Review the Single Family Home Design Techniques
  4. Find out if your home needs to go through a Design Review process with Planning.  If your addition is 20% or more of the area of the existing house (including garage), or involves any modification or addition to a second story, than it needs Design Review.
  5. To submit for Design Review, you need two sets of applicable plans and the MPP Permit Application Form.
  6. If your project does not require Design Review, you can go directly to the Building Permit process.

Please call a planner to verify your project requirements.  The above is intended as a general guideline for standard single family home remodels.
