Here are the following steps you need to go through to get Planning Division approval for your home remodel.
- Get the Zoning District for your lot by going to E-Zoning or contacting a planner.
- Get the Single Family Zoning Requirements for that zoning district.
- Review the Single Family Home Design Techniques.
- Find out if your home needs to go through a Design Review process with Planning. If your addition is 20% or more of the area of the existing house (including garage), or involves any modification or addition to a second story, than it needs Design Review.
- To submit for Design Review, you need two sets of applicable plans and the MPP Permit Application Form.
- If your project does not require Design Review, you can go directly to the Building Permit process.
Please call a planner to verify your project requirements. The above is intended as a general guideline for standard single family home remodels.
