PROJECT UPDATES

Project Approval
The Lakeside Specific Plan (LSP) Amendment was adopted and the Special Development Permit and Tentative Parcel Map were approved by the City Council on December 13, 2016. The next steps in the process include building permit and final map review by the City and project construction following the issuance of the building permit and recordation of the final map. Approved project components include:

  • Amend the LSP to revise the land use configuration (hotel on the east side; residential on the west side) and make other miscellaneous text amendments to reflect the current project;
  • Construct a six-story, 263-room hotel with ground floor meeting and banquet space, and a full service restaurant. A three-level, above-grade parking structure will be attached to the hotel;
  • Construct a five-story, 250-unit apartment building over a two-level, above-grade podium parking garage;
  • Create two lots, one for each land use; and
  • Construct associated site and off-site improvements.

BACKGROUND

In 2005, the City adopted the Lakeside Specific Plan (LSP) to facilitate the development of a mixed-use hotel and residential project for the 8.83-acre property at 1250 Lakeside Drive. The Specific Plan provides general land use and design criteria for a creative revitalization of the site as a mixed-use hotel and residential development. The City also adopted a Final Environmental Impact Report (FEIR) and approved a Special Development Permit and Parcel Map for the 253-room hotel and 244-unit residential project in 2005. After receiving project approval, the property owner demolished the hotel that was on the site, but the approved project was never built. The site has been vacant since 2006.
