Hailed as one of the greatest guitar players ever, Django Reinhardt’s magic stemmed as much from his Gypsy heritage as his masterful playing. Le Jazz Hot is the quartet version of the acclaimed Le Hot Club of San Francisco. Band leader Paul Mehling worked as a street musician in Paris learning techniques from real Gypsies before returning to the Bay Area to launch a revival of jazz manouche with his group, patterned after Reinhart’s famed Hot Club de France and featuring champion fiddler and Turtle Island Quartet veteran Evan Price, versatile New Orleans horn player Clint Baker and native French singer and guitarist Isabelle Fontaine.
