A heaping goulash of Paris hot jazz, tangos, klezmer, Balkan and classical opera will send you home dazzled and sated at the end of our season. Vagabond Opera is at the vanguard of the neo-cabaret phenomenon, weaving elements of Kurt Weill, Duke Ellington and Edith Piaf with absurdist flair, theatrics and an old world mood. Led by classically trained tenor and accordionist Eric Stern, this Portland-based group has wowed critics with its “top notch musicians” and a “huge and humorous stage presence,” playing gigs from National Public Radio to the Kennedy Center.
