New California Laws and Regulations beginning January 2012
Healthy Beverages in Child Care
Over 20% of children between the ages of 2 and 5 are overweight and research shows unhealthy beverages are a big part of the problem. California passed legislation to establish nutrition standards for beverages served in licensed child care centers and homes. These standards go into effect on January 1, 2012. California to Require a Booster for Children until Age 8
Starting January 2012, California will join 30 other states that require a safety seat or booster seat, in the back seat, up to the age of 8.

The Youth, Family and Child Care Resources Office is dedicated to ensuring a high quality of life for youth and families as well as addressing child care needs by facilitating affordable, available, high-quality child care and early education services for children through age 12. We also promote a family-friendly environment and assist with community resources to support youth and families.

To support affordable, high quality child care programs by sponsoring trainings, supporting the activities of local child care networks and recognizing the professional development effort of child care providers.
