How to Register
The first thing you will need to do is register to receive a household ID number which will enable you to take advantage of our registration services.Please follow these simple steps:
Step 1. Click here to download the form and fill it out completely.We will need one form of identification for each adult over 18. Photocopies are permitted.
Step 2. Bring in or mail your completed form and documentation to:

Step 3. Receive an identification number that will entitle you to register for any Recreation programs or rent Recreation facilities.
Different Ways to Register
Online Registration
Online registration is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You can use your Household ID to register for any of our classes by going to recreationclasses.insunnyvale.org. You may also browse any of our classes as a guest.

Begins February 1, 2012 from 9:00 am - 6:00 pm
Resident* and non-resident walk-in registration and class changes or substitutions will be processed at:

Monday-Friday 9am-6pm
Class registration continues according to this schedule until the second class meeting, provided openings are available.
Phone-in Registration
Will be processed between 10am -6:00 pm only.
Pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, the City of Sunnyvale will make reasonable efforts to accommodate persons with disabilities in the provision of City services, programs or activities. If you require special accommodation in order to participate in a City parks or recreation program, please let us know when you register.

Residency Qualifications
In order to qualify for discounted resident fees, or recreation fee waivers, proof of residency must be established.
To qualify for Sunnyvale resident status, two forms of identification with the same name and address are required at the opening of a new account and any time that there is an address change within Sunnyvale. Proof of Sunnyvale residency may be required on a periodic basis One form of identification must be a picture ID. The following is a list of acceptable forms of identification.

Age
Age level indicates participant must be that age by starting date of the class.
Residency
A resident* is anyone living within the Sunnyvale city limits.
*Please be prepared to show proof of residency in one of the approved forms:
- California Driver's License
- California Identification Card, or
- Utility Bill
- If you do not have any of the above IDs please contact us about other acceptable ways to confirm your residency status.
Cancellations & Waiting Lists
Cancellations
The Department of Library & Community Services reserves the right to cancel a class or activity when the minimum number of registered participants is not met. Please register early to avoid class cancellations. If a class is canceled, you will automatically receive a refund from the City in approximately 4 weeks.
Waiting Lists
During mail-in registration, when a class becomes full, your name will automatically be placed on a waiting list. If space in a class opens, we will notify you by telephone. In the event we cannot place you, your check will be returned to you. If you are paying for multiple classes with one check, you will receive a refund check from the City within approximately 4 weeks.
Refund/transfer policy

A $10 processing fee per transaction will apply for all refunds. A $5 processing fee per transaction will apply for all transfers. Participants may request a refund or transfer prior to the second class meeting for most classes unless otherwise noted in the class description. No refunds or transfers will be granted after the second class meeting. Some restrictions may apply. Refunds and transfers will not be issued for one - or two-day classes, activities, trips, theater tickets, golf activities, food services or sports leagues. Refund request may be submitted along with receipt and completed refund request form via: fax at 408-730-7754, in person, or phone-in. If requesting a refund by phone, be prepared to verify transaction and household details such as payment reference, household number, and original receipt number. Receipts can be printed online at no charge through your account at RecreationClasses.inSunnyvale.com.
Refund will be remitted to original payer (please allow up to four weeks for refunds to be processed). Refunds will be issued in the form of a check, or credit card, depending on the original method of payment. Cash payments will be refunded by check. The Department of Library & Community Services is dedicated to providing you with high quality recreation services. Our trained staff is happy to assist you in finding a class or activity to meet your needs.
Please note: Refund or transfer request for any swim activities/classes must be submitted in person at the swim location printed in your receipt starting June 20th. Refund or transfer request for camps must be submitted at least 4 weeks before the 1st day of the camp.
Fee Waiver Assistance Program
Eligible Sunnyvale residents may apply to waive, or offset, the expense of the Department of Library & Community Services program registration fees for youth (age 17 and under) of up to $234 per eligible family member, per Fiscal Year (July 1 – June 30).
This includes, but is not limited to, youth recreation classes and after school programs sponsored by the City. The Recreation Fee Waiver Assistance Program does not fund adult or senior programming, special events or participation in non-profit youth sports organizations. Recreation Fee Waiver Assistance Program resources are limited and subject to availability of funds. Please allow 30 (thirty) days for a response to your application.
