Hands on the Arts is Sunnyvale's signature event, a multicultural arts festival especially for children ages 3-12. The 27th annual Hands on the Arts Festival is Saturday, May 19, 2012.

Hands on the Arts features all-day family-friendly entertainment on the outdoor stage and more than 30 workshops giving children opportunities to learn and try different art forms. Food is available for purchase in the  festival's food court area, and picnics are also allowed. Admission to the festival grounds is free, but participation in workshops requires purchase of a wristband, $10 per child at the festival information booth or in advance online. Wristband allows unlimited workshop participation and includes all supplies. Some workshops do have a minimum age restriction. Each participating child must have his or her own wristband and wear at all times while participating. Parents and caregivers are invited to watch and help their children complete projects, but because of limited supplies, adults are not permitted to complete projects of their own.
