Recreation Swim
Public recreation swim allows swimmers of all ages the opportunity for casual swimming and water play. Lifeguards are on duty during recreationswim hours. Participants must adhere to all pool rules. Participants must pass our lifeguard issued swim test, in order to swim in the deep end of the pool.
The City of Sunnyvale offers aquatic programs at four pools throughout the city.Three pools are seasonal and one operates year round (see pool information here). Programs include swimming lessons for all ages, water aerobics classes, beginning water polo, and various American Red Cross courses such as Lifeguard Training and First Aid and CPR. All pools are heated, and are maintained at a temperature between 78 and 82 degrees F.
Program and Registration Information
• Spring course registration occurs in February of each year, and fall registration begins in August.
• Registration for spring and fall sessions occur either online, by phone, by fax, or in person at the Sunnyvale Community Center.
• Summer course registration begins in March of each year; registration for summer aquatics programs is accepted via phone, fax, online and in person at the Community Center until a week prior to the start date of the first summer session.
• Once summer lessons have started, registration for summer programs is
only available at the pool where the class is being held.
When Sunnyvale’s neighborhood pools close for the winter season, aquatics activities can be continued at the Fremont High School Pool, located at 1283 Sunnyvale-Saratoga Rd. The City contracts with California Sports Center to operate this swim complex. Fremont High School Pool is open year-round.
